COMPANY NAME:
Alpha Construction Company, Inc.

COMPANY BACKGROUND:
Alpha Construction Company, Inc. is a highly experienced General Contractor, specializing in building quality Senior, Family and Assisted Living housing projects throughout the Los Angeles, California area. It has been a leader in the field of housing both conventionally and publicly financed and has, in addition, constructed numerous commercial, educational and governmental buildings since its formation in 1965.

CHALLENGES:
Alpha Construction needed software that could manage subcontracts and job costs effectively and give a continuous, accurate picture of where each job stood, both from a subcontract and in-house cost point of view. The system also needed to be fast in terms of data storage and retrieval. Ease of use was also an issue. It had to be easy to use, so as to cut down on training costs, and it had to enhance efficiency within the company.

BIS SOLUTIONS:
BIS has met Alpha Construction’s needs since 1984. The Subcontract Control module is a heavily used and essential part of its daily operation. The Subcontract Detail report, in particular, helps in better managing subcontractors. Information is entered into and retrieved from the system extremely easily and quickly, thereby making efficient use of employees’ time. Also, the cost of training employees is minimal because of the use of similar formatting of data entry screens throughout the entire BIS program. The Payroll module is excellent in the way payroll and payroll burden expenses are allocated to various job cost codes and/or general ledger accounts, and the speed and ease of producing a payroll, no matter how large, eliminates any need for an outside payroll service.
